RSVP: Irreverent Save the Dates

9 Apr

Cross posted from Hostess Wars:

Recently I’ve met a few brides who are, well, less than excited about planning a wedding.  It’s not that they don’t want to get married, they just don’t want to drown in a sea of fondant and tulle.  For those brides, here’s a lifesaver, an Etsy assortment of Save the Dates devoid of hearts, flowers and soul crushing wordplay.

Customizable Silhouette, Jack and Jill Wedding, $3 each
Flying Pigs, InkyLivie, $50 for 25

This would be extra hilarious and/or awkward if like me, your parents are divorced:

They Set a High Bar, HelloTenFold, $2.50 each
Scratch Off Record, UnlessSomeoneLikeYou, $50 for 25
Retro Custom Wedding Postcards, Jennle, $2.00 each

RSVP: Clean, Crisp, Fun Save the Dates

If you’re looking for a pretty streamlined Save the Date but want a bit of pop, here are some options that fit the bill.

This winter flourish Save the Date from Minted.com is available in light blue and olive.  I like the little heart detail in between the names:

This intricate design Save the Date, also from from Minted.com is available in poppy and lavender (I prefer the poppy, I think it offers more contrast):

Or if you’re looking for something old-school but still kind of hip consider this New Calligraphy option from Bellafigura.com.  It’s pretty rad, though one bride points out that it might be harder for the older-guest set to read:

Swoon…From Minted, this is perfect for a woodsy or vintage wedding.

RSVP: Long.Story.Short. Save the Date!

I’ve seen a lot of paper products in my day – plenty of beautiful motifs and fun photographs – but I don’t think anything comes close to the cleverness of these Save the Dates:

How fun!   Etsy seller FishFeather will ask you to write down your story.  Then she takes the highlights and turns them into a fun and crisp custom design.  I learned of FishFeather through my friend Molly who used FishFeather’s services to customize a new home announcement.   Long. Story. Short.  I love these.
